THE FASHION INDUSTRY HAS A PROBLEM

As one of the world's largest consumers of natural resources, the fashion industry poses significant environmental challenges. It is responsible for cutting down 150 million trees, consuming 79 trillion liters of water annually, using 1.3 billion barrels of oil, and accounting for approximately 10% of global carbon emissions. The industry's reliance on synthetic fibers—nearly 60% of all fibers are derived from petrochemicals—exacerbates these issues, emphasizing the urgent need for more sustainable practices across the supply chain.
